Night Time Rockpooling Sessions

Guidelines for Rockpooling:

  • ID guide (pocket or website)

  • Clear bucket or Tupperware

  • Clear jar for closer examination

  • Appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear

Planning Your Trip:

  • Choose a beach with sheltered rocky shores.

  • Check tide times for optimal pool exposure.

  • Approach pools quietly to avoid startling inhabitants.

  • Observe surroundings carefully, turning over stones to reveal hidden life.

  • Use a bucket to examine organisms, transferring them to a jar for closer study.

  • Record and identify your finds, returning them carefully to the pool.
